FINAL EXAM PREPARATION
Tienes un examen final...¿Qué necesitas saber?
The final exam for Spanish 1A and Spanish 1B students is quickly approaching! How can you be the most successful? These pointers can help you out!
1. Know the format. The final exam will consist of the following sections:
- speaking
- listening
- writing/reading/grammar
2. Know the dates.
- Spanish 1A students will be completing the speaking and listening IN CLASS, before the final exam testing period. On the 24th, you will be completing the remainder of the exam (writing, reading, grammar)
- Spanish 1B students will be completing the speaking by appointment on June 4th and 5th in the library, with me! The remaining parts of the exam (listening, writing/grammar/reading) will be taken on the 24th.
3. Speaking: DON'T SWEAT IT.
Do you need to prepare for the speaking? Absolutely. Should you be nervous? Absolutely not! You have been preparing for this all year (and for 2 years for 1B students!). The speaking will work a little differently for 1A and 1B students, so see below for your section's pointers.
- Spanish 1A: you will be sitting down with me in class to complete this section of the exam. You are able to prepare all of your answers ahead of time, using your "preguntas importantes" sheet! You will be getting a final exam preguntas importantes once we have completed all the necessary units. You will randomly select sticks for your questions, so prepare them all -- never know which ones you'll get!
- Spanish 1B: we will have practice many, many times for this section in class before you sit down with me in the library. Biggest thing I can tell students: YOU KNOW SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU KNOW. You will be randomly selecting 2 conversation topics from a pile of 15, in which you are expected to provide 4 'utterances' relating to the topic to receive full credit. These can be questions to me, or responses to a question I ask you. Please refer to the speaking study pointers sheet handed out in class (also posted below). I can't wait to chat with you!
4. What do I study?
All students will be receiving a study guide that will be completed/corrected by the student in class. This will cover all necessary topics that you will see on the exam! In addition to that study guide, you should organize your vocabulary lists to study. You will not need to know every single word we have learned, but you need to be familiar with them! See what you remember -- take out all of those uno, dos, tres lists!
